Happy Trails Ranch  

Happy Trails for Kids’ longest running program, Happy Trails Ranch, offers a unique dude ranching experience for foster children with disabilities or those receiving regional center services.  These youth, along with their foster families, are hosted at dude ranches throughout California.  At Happy Trails Ranch, the focus is not on the difficulties of being in a wheelchair or making sure to take mid-day medications.  Rather, our ranchers have the opportunity to feel like regular ol’ cowboys and cowgirls – thinking only about catching a fish, riding the biggest horse and learning the two-step. 

This program is held at handicap-accessible facilities, with trained staff ensuring that all of our ranchers, regardless of their disabilities, are able to participate safely in a variety of adventures.  Happy Trails for Kids generally hosts 30 families per Ranch session, allowing similarly situated youth and family members to develop lasting friendships and memories.
